Belgian apples and pears suffering from sun damage.
Belgium experienced very dry weather this year with high temperatures.
That caused a lot of sun damage on the crop of apples. Also a few pear varieties were affected hard. The sun didn't only hit the crop of apples but also late spring frost damage effected the apples. This resulted in misshaped apples which were not removed. Growers seem to be rather pessimistic for the coming harvest.
Although pears also had issues with the weather, they seems to do better. They are a lot them and very important, from a good size. Especially in the beginning of the season, people prefer bigger sized pears.
The actual season which is almost finished was good for belgian growers. The prices they received were good, mainly in the second part of the season.
