Red currant

The red currant (Ribes rubrum) is native to West Europe. The first red currant plants with larger berries were cultivated in Belgium in the 17th century.

Our red currant is mainly cultivated in Poland. There are many different varieties on the market, but in general the industry doesn’t make a distinction. Nevertheless it is possible to request a special variety. They are being harvested from June until August and are frozen without fruit stalk.
