Sour cherry

The sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) is native in large parts of Europe and Southwest Asia. This cherry is more sour than its related sweet cherry (Prunus avium).

The countries of major importance are Turkey, Russia and Poland. Our sour cherries are normally coming from Poland (variety Lutovka) and Serbia (variety Oblacinska). Lutovka cherries are in general cheaper than Oblacinska and have bigger berries, but are more sour. The year 2017 was a year with a really low production for many fruits. Due to the low supply of sour cherries with European origin, we supply the cherry ‘Mont Morrency’ until harvest season 2018.
