Just a few weeks before the start of the big-scaled harvest for raspberries, Serbia was facing snowfall on the 16th of May. Serbia, traditionally one of the biggest producers of raspberries will have much less crop due to this late snowfall. Predictions say it might be 30% or even more.
Fruit Layer is selling a lot of Serbian raspberries, mainly coming from the region Arilje. Besides the snowfall in May, also less hectares of raspberry fields, shortage of labor force and older fields have a negative impact on the crop and therefore on the prices.
